Our Chemical Clothes
Martin W. Nørgaard
What do our clothes consist of? How did our clothes get the properties they have and what role did chemistry play in this? What will the clothes of the future look like, and what properties will they have? These questions and many others are answered in the book: Our Chemical Clothes – Chemistry and the Function of Clothes.
The book is designed in such a way that it can be used at several educational levels in chemistry classes in upper secondary or high school, as well as further education colleges and adult education centres, or in interdisciplinary courses or projects related to the subject of chemistry.
The book aims to give the reader an insight into the world of chemistry, and how chemistry is of great importance in our daily life. With a focus on clothing and its properties, the book works on important chemical concepts and how the molecules, and chemical bonds within and between them, are of great significance for the properties of clothes and their function.
Throughout the book there is focus on knowledge being conveyed, not only through the text, but also through a series of interactive features in the form of images, film, animations and student-motivating assignments and chemical experiments. The reader is actively involved in working through the questions that the book illustrates, in particular by carrying out experiments with clothes, making animations of the chemical reactions in Explain Everything and creating an overview and summary in the Glogster app.
