Exercise and Functions
VUC Syd - Ann Karina Broholm Kristiansen
What are mathematical correlations and how are they used in everyday life? With case studies on exercise and training as a starting point, the reader works with mathematical correlations and through concrete examples the use of coordinate systems, function rules and different types of mathematical functions are studied.
In the course of the book, the reader learns how to derive formulas and develops an understanding of function rules and graphs through studying specific issues relating to exercise. The reader has to be actively involved in the work and, among other things, has to be able to calculate their own fitness, BMI and the cost of using a fitness center. In this way, the reader obtains an understanding of mathematical functions and their use, with a focus on directly proportional functions, linear functions and inversely proportional functions.
The book is designed to be used at several levels of mathematics teaching in secondary schools (grades 6 – 10 in USA), upper secondary or high school, as well as further education colleges and adult education centres, or in interdisciplinary courses or projects related to exercise, training and health.
